Asada lacquerware craft Keyaki Heian soup bowl
Asada lacquerware craft Keyaki Heian soup bowl
■Product description
A simple soup bowl made from a hollowed-out Japanese keyaki tree. The striped pattern on the side is a decorative turning of Yamanaka lacquerware, a pattern that can only be achieved with great craftsmanship. It also prevents slipping. The strength is increased by applying lacquer and wiping it off five times, and the vermilion and black on the top edge and elevated areas become accents. The warm and nostalgic texture is liked by the elderly, and it is also recommended for children who want to experience Japanese tradition and culture on a daily basis.

■Introduction of the creator
The Asada lacquerware craft, which produces Yamanaka lacquerware designated as a traditional craft, dates back more than 100 years. It goes back to the history of independent woodworkers. We carry out the Yamanaka tradition of turning the wood (turning on a potter's wheel) all the way to applying lacquer, and with the aim of creating ``lacquerware for everyday use'', we continue to take on the challenge of new proposals that suit today's lifestyles.
