[1] About the trigger of pursuing the path of crafts, your own background, the history and formation of the workshop

The rebellious spirit to yourself creates the power of manufacturing #Yumiko Kaneshiro

Yumiko Kaneshiro was born and raised in Minamikazuhara -cho, Okinawa Prefecture and continues to make works in the same place. Because of the influence of an architect and a father who is close to Okinawa folk art, since childhood, I used pottery, textile, and dyes on a daily basis, so I became interested in art in a natural way. I decided to make a pottery path.

After studying pottery at university, I spend my days working hard on the idea of making ceramics in the land of Okinawa, and Okinawa.32In a solo exhibition at the age of age, "I was able to feel comfortable with saying" Okinawan people -like line "for the work I made with a sharp image. I have a sense of Okinawa. I thought that any work would be Okinawa -like even if I used the soil. "

[2] Being working to stimulate your five senses and conscious

When asked about what is inspired by the work production, "Is it a punk spillit, a rebellious spirit that you have for yourself? (Laughs). There is a feeling that the brain is full of rotation, and I love people who are happy to be surprised. He also feels like a new wave and wind. "

[3] What we value and commitment in the work production, what we want to convey through the work and what we want to fulfill

Where does the atmosphere of Okinawa be created by Kinjo's work come from?

the1Tsu is a rich color that reflects the scene of Okinawa. At first, I mainly made monotone device production, but my friend who was a school teacher asked me to take a ceramic class, which triggered me to make a colorful work. 。 Students will be more lighter than the sober color glaze that they usually use, so when they have prepared pink and yellow, the work that was accidentally completed is very fresh, which is a colorful painting now. I am leading to the work.
An indispensable element that makes you feel Okinawa is specific motifs such as flowers and wild grasses in the garden. Sagari Bana, a phantom flower that blooms at night and scatters in the morning, is one of the most favorite flowers, and appears on painting patterns as a summer tradition in Okinawa. In addition, there are many works in the works, such as the expression of lines and thicknesses, the color of the "coral blue" that conveys the beautiful sea of Okinawa, which is raised by corals, and "Natsukage", which expresses the shadow of the strong summer and shadows. The sensitivity of Okinawa is packed.

And the "Gangi no Vessel", which can be said to be a masterpiece, has the desire to bring the memories of Okinawa back, as well as the environment.

"When I was little, the scenery with fish around the living coral was commonplace, but the beautiful sea is being lost. I want to convey the beautiful sea where corals grow in this bowl."

The glitter of Kinjo's vessel is studded with the desire to protect the beauty of Okinawa.

[4] What we are trying to inherit traditional technology and culture and what we want to challenge in the future
Kinjo says, "I want to live a neutral way of life," so that he can freely incorporate various ways without being bound by stereotypes.

"I feel happy that both people who like crafts and their leaders are still having pottery in this era when the number is gradually decreasing. I want to keep challenging. "

Kinjo's challenge, who continues to make works while being watched by the warm people of the town he was born, will reach not only in Japan but also in the country across the sea.
