Yachimun that reflects the culture and history of Okinawa #Koji Iki

From the Yachimun no Sato in Yomitan, set up a pottery studio in a slightly traveled place by carKoji Iki. You can overlook the sea and nature from the workshop, and the gallery has art works from everyday works. One day, the vague feeling of wanting to be manufactured will trigger the path of pottery. I learned that Okinawa Prefectural University of the Arts would be opened when I was a third -year high school student in Kyoto, and I went to the crafts department of crafts because of the great impression of crafts in rural areas.

Among the representative works, there are "Dyeing" and "Mintama" series. The antique of the Ryukyu dynasty has a vessel that shines a clear blue dyeing pattern on a beautiful white background as a metaphor, saying that it was as white as an egg shell. It is a work that worked on reproduction.

"Mintama" is an arrangement of a container baked in Okinawa in Okinawa in the kiln village called "Yuta ware" in Okinawa, and the soil that appears inside the vessel is exposed. Because it looks like a feature, it is named "Mintama", which means the centerpiece in Okinawa dialect.

When asked what was cherished as the creator of a pottery work, he told me as follows.

"Ryukyu is a land called Ryukyu, and there are things that are only born in this land. Okinawan potatoes are a relaxed vessel, such as low center of gravity, roundness of curves, and stability of Yokoguni. Okinawa soil is the soil. There is a "Okinawan shape" that is no longer plastic and the soil that is hard to shape, and it is important to be conscious of being born. Instead of making ceramics for a principle society, we make things that can be used as a daily beauty and a dialogue that can be used as a beauty for daily dishes to prove our existence. I am conscious.

In addition to modern beauty and comfort, by touching the culture and traditions cultivated in Okinawa, which Iki values, each work becomes even more attractive.
