Revited the image of a plant you meet in Okinawa and designed #Iguchi Kobo Haruharu Iguchi

We talked to Haruharu Iguchi of Iguchi Kobo, who made a thin and simple Yachimun that enhances the dishes to be served.

[1] About the trigger of pursuing the path of crafts, your own background, the history and formation of the workshop
The work of Iguchi Kobo in Yomitan Village, Okinawa is a simple and sharpened Yachimun created by potter Haruharu Iguchi.

Mr. Iguchi, who liked painting since childhood, went to the design department in high school, and at first he studied graphic design, so the university also wanted to be a design department. During the preparation for the exam, I met the later teacher's work, which was the opportunity to change my course and go on the pottery path.

"Speaking of Okinawa, there are many decorations such as Tsuboya -yaki, and there are many pottery and patterns like decorations, and I was shocked by the freedom to make the simplicity and color used by the teacher. So, I changed the destination of the university from the design department to the pottery department. "

Rather than aiming to be a potter to inherit the tradition, I feel the strength of pursuing my own Yachimun in the career of the shift from the graphic design road.

[2] Being working to stimulate your five senses and conscious

Mr. Iguchi often becomes a design source of Okinawan plants, and is looking forward to finding new plants by walking in the Yanbaru forest on the main island of Okinawa, visiting a botanical garden.

"Even if you look at the flowers, plants, and the next hedge, everything will lead to the design."

Hibiscus flowers drawn by Mr. Iguchi give the first flower that I met for the first time. This is because the shape of the flower is reconstructed in Iguchi's head and created as a new design.

[3] What we value and commitment in the work production, what we want to convey through the work and what we want to fulfill

What Iguchi is strongly aware of as a stage to spread the vessel is the dining table. I think that food and vessels that are indispensable for living are inseparable. He said that he had been in high school since he was a part -time job in high school.

"I thought it would be nice to design a dish that looks beautiful without disturbing the dish while serving a dish in the bowl."

Iguchi -san's vessel is a “vessel that shines in cooking”, and the bowls in the hands of a bowl are as thin as possible and are as thin as they are light and easy to hold. It is full of compassion for the user of the vessel, who wants to please the cooking people and want to feel comfortable and feel comfortable.

Both his wife, Yui, who produces a workshop, is also a hobby of cooking and eating, and before living in Okinawa, he traveled all over the country in search of a bowl to serve his own dishes.

"I want to be a dish with the main role of a meal. There is nothing better than the meal as a basis for life, so I want you to enjoy and eat happily (Yuji)."

One of the masterpieces, "O -kon," is impressive with a freelance and rhythmic pattern, and has a different look at the momentum of brushing and shade of color. Mr. Iguchi says that the fact that all patterns are not all right is the fun of handicrafts. In order to enhance the color of cobalt blue like Okinawa, it is necessary to increase the concentration of the glaze to the last minute, and it seems that it has been adjusted many times before the finish is satisfactory.
On the other hand, the shape of the vessel is created by focusing on making it uniformly according to the application used. All of the flavors of different paintings and the shape of the neatly combined vessels are the charm of Mr. Iguchi's simple vessel, which looks good on the dining table.

[4] What we are trying to inherit traditional technology and culture and what we want to challenge in the future
In the future, "I want to make my own Shisa," says Iguchi. Mr. Iguchi's Shisa has different humor expressions one by one, making the viewer a bright and bright feeling.
A simple shisa with a sophisticated and thin vessel dignified beauty and the warmth of the soil. Mr. Iguchi's wide sensitivity seems to bring a lot of fortune to the people surrounding the dining table.
