We will exhibit at the exhibition "Manufacturing that will lead to the future"It is an introduction of Umeki Honko Shissa Works.
The only workshop in Japan is the only handmade seed scissors in the traditional technique "Tsukiki Steel Method".
Shoji Umeki inherits the skills of blacksmith on the 37th island.
Seed scissors have evolved in silhouettes, but the basic way of making has not changed even after 400 to 500 years.
It is very valuable considering the thoughts that people have inherited for a long time, not just a traditional crafts, but a treasure of Tanegashima.
It can be enjoyed as a "growing hardware", including changes in the texture due to rust.
At the exhibition, we handle scissors and kitchen knives.
Please enjoy a handmade work that has a long lasting sharpness by temperature control and sharpening.
